We woke up today to a delicious sweet smell wafting from the dining hall. The group in charge of breakfast made us French toast! We have a superb and creative bunch of cooks among our participants, and we’ve benefited from their talents immensely.
Today has been a day filled with music, laughter, and dance. We started it off with various workshops–on legal advocacy, branding, podcasting–followed by a session of bachata taught by Lisa, one of our facilitators. Everyone was very game–they all got on stage and tried out new moves.
After lunch, we took a final visit to Mbabane for last-minute shopping. The atmosphere in the bus was electric with anticipation, which inevitably lead to a rousing rendition of Bohemian Rhapsody. We were especially enthusiastic during the “Mama Mia Mama Mia Mama Mia, let me go!” section, which left the driver visibly amused.
But the highlight of the day (and maybe even the whole short course) was the Open Stage in the evening. Participants had been practicing, some for weeks, most for days, and a few, for hours. The performances ran the gamut from song and dance to poetry and words of inspiration. We had a fabulous set of MCs who kept us entertained with games, group sing-alongs, and witty commentary. We have such a talented group, words cannot do their talents justice. So here are some pictures to give you a sense of the acts.
