The small, landlocked kingdom of eSwatini (formerly Swaziland) is located in Southern Africa, between Mozambique and South Africa. Although it is one of the smallest African countries both in land area and population, it is not lacking in diversity. Within the three weeks of the Short Course, participants will get to experience eSwatini’s diversity fully—they will see mountains and lowlands, cities as well as nature and wildlife.
While eSwatini has much to offer, it also faces numerous challenges. The HIV/AIDS epidemic, low availability of quality education, and problems with democracy and economic development are some of the issues affecting everyday life in the country. Participants will explore these issues in-depth, to understand the course’s host country.
